I met a lovely lady once and stars were shining bright
We ate in a famous restaurant and danced in the moonlight
The night was unbelievable and all was going well
Until I made a bad mistake and all turned into hell

I asked her many questions and I wanted to know more
Like how come I have not seen such a beauty here before?
I asked where she was born, she smiled and answered: in Cork
But that smile was gone when I asked where does she work

She turned her look down to the floor and started to cry:
Why the hell did you ask that, when all was so well, why?
I work in the customer relations of BA
So now you know the truth and I guess you will go away

I said, hold on, and tell me how a smart girl like you
Can work in a place like that and can do things like you do?
I know! she cried, I know! I don't understand why
But just this once for some reason I didn't want to lie.

She was full of beauty and she was full of youth
I think it's for the best that we both know now the truth
It's pointless to date someone who had sold her soul away
